Recycling collection is every other week on the SAME day as garbage pickup. Use the city's Recycle Map tool (my.spokanecity.org/recyclemap/) to find which week you are scheduled for recycling. DO NOT bag your recyclables - place all materials loose in your blue cart. Containers must be empty, clean, and dry. Flatten cardboard boxes. Remove lids from containers. Keep cart at least 3 feet from other carts and obstacles. Cart lid should open toward street/alley. 200-pound weight limit. Place cart at curb by 6:00 AM on collection day. Recycling contamination is a growing issue - when in doubt, throw it out (in garbage). Contact city at 311 for questions about specific items.
Holiday Schedule
Spokane observes 6 holidays that affect collection: New Year's Day (January 1), Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day (December 25). When your regular collection day falls on one of these holidays, collection is delayed by ONE DAY for the rest of that week (Monday becomes Tuesday, Tuesday becomes Wednesday, etc.). Collection continues as normal on all other holidays. All City facilities (Waste to Energy Facility, transfer stations) are closed on these 6 holidays. Place carts at curb by 6:00 AM on your collection day. During holiday weeks, check your adjusted collection day. Call 311 or visit my.spokanecity.org/solidwaste for holiday week confirmation.
