Bulk trash collection must be scheduled at least 2 working days in advance by calling (972) 941-7141 or submitting an online request. Items must be placed within 2 feet of the curb or alley by 7:00 AM on your scheduled pickup date. Refrigerators, freezers, window AC units, and water coolers require a paid pickup at $25 per item due to special handling requirements. Brush and yard trimmings are NOT collected through bulky waste - use NTMWD drop-off facilities instead.

Recyclables must be clean and free of residue. Place items LOOSELY in the green cart - DO NOT bag recyclables (black bags go straight to landfill). Flatten large cardboard boxes and place next to the cart if they don't fit inside. Remove packing pillows and peanuts from boxes. Place cart at curb by 7:00 AM on collection day, but no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before. Keep cart lid closed and positioned with wheels toward house, handles toward street.

Holiday Schedule

The City of Plano Environmental Waste Services observes 7 holidays throughout the year. When a holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, collections scheduled on or after that holiday will be delayed by ONE DAY during the same collection week. For example, if your regular collection is Tuesday and a Monday holiday occurs, your collection moves to Wednesday. There is NO yard trimmings collection December 26-31. Holidays observed include: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (if on weekday), and Christmas Day. Refrigerators, freezers, AC units, and water coolers require $25 paid pickup due to special handling for cooling appliances. YARD WASTE DISPOSAL: Plano does NOT provide curbside yard waste collection. Residents can drop off yard trimmings at NTMWD Custer Road or Parkway Transfer Stations. With valid utility bill showing solid waste services, Plano residents receive 2 FREE drop-offs per month (Monday-Saturday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM). Additional visits: $20/cubic yard ($60 minimum). NO yard waste accepted December 26-31. PROOF OF RESIDENCY: For NTMWD facilities and Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center, bring valid driver's license and current utility bill showing Plano address.
