Spring Cleanup typically runs on Saturdays from April through mid-May at rotating neighborhood sites. Fall Cleanup occurs on all four Saturdays in October (9:00 AM - 2:00 PM) at multiple neighborhood locations. Open to all City of Omaha households - no neighborhood association membership required. Residents must transport items to the event location and unload themselves. For large appliances and electronics year-round, contact private haulers or use the recycling drop-off centers. Check wasteline.org or call 402-444-4636 for current event dates and locations.

Omaha uses SINGLE-STREAM recycling - all accepted materials go in green-lid cart mixed together, no sorting required. Recycling collected EVERY OTHER WEEK on same day as trash. Households assigned to Group A or Group B for alternating bi-weekly schedule. Use Collection Day Finder at wasteline.org to find your recycling group. Place cart curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day. Empty and rinse containers - must be CLEAN, EMPTY, and DRY. Leave lids on bottles. Do NOT flatten plastic bottles (keeps lids attached). Flatten cardboard boxes. GLASS IS NOT ACCEPTED CURBSIDE - it contaminates other recyclables and damages equipment. Take glass to PURPLE drop-off containers at full-service recycling centers (Midtown 72nd St, Northwest Mulhall's 120th, Farnam 7301, Fresh Thyme Evans Plaza). Glass-only sites also at HyVee 178th/Pacific and Westwood Plaza 120th/West Center.

Holiday Schedule

Omaha observes 6 holidays that affect collection: Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. NO COLLECTION occurs on the holiday itself. Following a holiday, collection is DELAYED BY ONE DAY for the remainder of that week. Example: If holiday falls on Monday, Monday collection moves to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, Thursday to Friday, and Friday collection moves to Saturday. Materials should be set out by 6:00 AM on the adjusted collection day. Sign up for email notifications at wasteline.org or download the Wasteline Omaha mobile app (Apple App Store or Google Play) for holiday alerts. For weather-related delays or emergency schedule changes, check wasteline.org or call 402-444-5238.
