St. Louis, MO Waste Collection Schedule

The City of St. Louis provides comprehensive municipal waste management services to residential properties through the Refuse Division of the Department of Streets. All services are funded through a flat $14/month solid waste fee collected quarterly on water bills. COLLECTION SYSTEM: 1. TRASH & YARD WASTE (green cart, 96 gallons) - One collection per week on Monday or Tuesday depending on zone 2. RECYCLING (blue cart, 96 gallons) - One collection per week on Thursday or Friday depending on zone 3. YARD WASTE (green cart, shared with trash) - Weekly collection on WEDNESDAYS ONLY from March-November 4. BULK ITEMS - Monthly collection on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Monday depending on region (up to 3 items) FINDING YOUR COLLECTION SCHEDULE: St. Louis uses TWO collection schedules based on location: - Monday/Thursday Zone: Trash on Monday, Recycling on Thursday, Yard Waste on Wednesday - Tuesday/Friday Zone: Trash on Tuesday, Recycling on Friday, Yard Waste on Wednesday To find your specific collection days: - Visit: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/my-pickup/ - Enter your address in the lookup tool - Your collection days will be displayed - OR call Citizens' Service Bureau at 314-622-4800 COLLECTION GUIDELINES: - Place roll carts at curb or alley by 7:00 AM on collection day - Do not place carts out before 5:00 PM the evening before - Collection occurs between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM - Cart wheels should face your house, lid should open toward street - Keep at least 3 feet clearance around carts from vehicles, mailboxes, other obstacles - Remove carts from curb same day after collection ROLL CART INFORMATION: - GREEN CART (96 gallons): Used for both trash (Mon/Tue) and yard waste (Wed) - BLUE CART (96 gallons): Used for recycling only (Thu/Fri) - Both carts provided by the city at no additional charge - If you don't have carts, contact Citizens' Service Bureau: 314-622-4800 BULK PICKUP REGIONS: St. Louis is divided into 4 regions for monthly bulk pickup: - Region 1: Bulk pickup on 1st Monday of each month - Region 2: Bulk pickup on 2nd Monday of each month - Region 3: Bulk pickup on 3rd Monday of each month - Region 4: Bulk pickup on 4th Monday of each month Find your region at: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/departments/planning/documents/bulk-refuse-pickup-schedule-map.cfm Or use the Address Lookup tool: https://www.stlouis-mo.gov/data/address-search/ BOAT-E COLLECTION (Batteries-Oil-Appliances-Tires-Electronics): Accepted on bulk pickup day in addition to regular 3-item limit: - Batteries (all types) - Oil (motor oil, automotive fluids) - Appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, etc.) - Tires (up to 4 per pickup) - Electronics (TVs, computers, monitors, all electronics) YARD WASTE IMPORTANT DETAILS: - Yard waste collection DISCONTINUED December-February - Resumes first full week in March through November - Collection ONLY on WEDNESDAYS - Use GREEN cart (same cart as trash) - NO BAGS - place yard waste directly in cart or alley dumpster - Large branches: bundle in 6-foot lengths for bulk pickup RECYCLING PROGRAM CHANGES: As of summer 2025, St. Louis has discontinued alley recycling collection. Recycling is now ONLY collected via blue roll carts at curbside. Drop-off locations are still available for residents who need additional recycling capacity. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE (HHWSTL): HHWSTL operates two facilities serving St. Louis City, County, and Jefferson County residents: - South Facility (291 E.
