Empty and rinse all containers - items must be CLEAN, EMPTY, and DRY. Keep lids on bottles and tighten them. Do NOT flatten bottles or crush cans (keeps lids attached). Glass must be taken to one of three Bridging The Gap recycling drop-off centers or purple glass collection bins located throughout the city - NEVER place glass in curbside recycling cart. Flatten and break down cardboard boxes. For additional recycling beyond cart capacity, use clear plastic bags and place next to cart. Purple glass-only drop-off bins located at various grocery stores and community centers.
Holiday Schedule
When a city-observed holiday falls during the week, trash and recycling collection is delayed by one day for all routes after the holiday. If the holiday is on Monday, Monday routes move to Tuesday, Tuesday to Wednesday, and so on, with Friday collection moved to Saturday. Holiday delays affect: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Contact 311 or check kcmo.gov for weather-related delays or emergency schedule changes. Bulky item appointments scheduled during holiday weeks may be rescheduled - contact 311 for confirmation.
