Recycling service is included in Ramsey County property taxes and billed separately from garbage service.

Holiday Schedule

Garbage and recycling collection is delayed by one day during holiday weeks when the holiday falls on a weekday. If your regular collection day is on or after the holiday, your pickup will be one day later that week. Major holidays observed: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (Fourth of July), Juneteenth, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. No collection occurs on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Check with your hauler or the city website for specific holiday schedules as they may vary by hauler.

Important Information

St. Paul provides organized garbage and recycling collection for all households with 1-4 units through a consortium of private haulers under city contract. The current contract began April 1, 2025. Each address is assigned to a specific hauler based on zone. Use the online Hauler & Collection Days Map to find your specific hauler and collection day. Haulers include Aspen Waste Systems (612-884-8008), Gene's Disposal Service (651-426-1224), Highland Sanitation (651-458-0043), Republic Services (651-286-4590), and Waste Management (763-784-8349). Collection occurs Monday-Friday between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Place carts at curb by 6:00 AM on collection day, 3 feet apart from each other and other objects. Garbage must be bagged inside cart. Recycling cannot be in plastic bags. Free walk-up service available for residents unable to bring carts to curb. Recycling is automatically included for all households and billed through property taxes. Garbage service is billed quarterly by the City Assessments Office. St. Paul is partnering with Ramsey County to provide future curbside food scraps collection at no additional cost. The city operates 7 community food scraps drop-off sites (24/7 access at Como Park, Highland Park, and Union Park). Contact Public Works for questions: 651-266-6101 or garbage@ci.stpaul.mn.us.
