Position carts 3 feet apart from other objects, including trash carts. Collection may continue into the evening. Remove carts by sunset and store out of street view. When in doubt about an item, throw it out - contamination affects entire recycling loads.

Holiday Schedule

Tampa Solid Waste adjusts collection schedules for major holidays. When a holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, service is typically postponed to the following day, and the remainder of the week shifts by one day. Affected holidays include: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Residential customers will not receive service on the holiday itself. Check the Tampa Trash and Recycling app or visit tampa.gov/solidwaste for specific holiday week schedules. The Household Hazardous Waste facilities at Hillsborough County locations operate on their regular monthly Saturday schedules and are not affected by weekday holidays. Administrative offices at 4010 West Spruce Street are closed on all major holidays.

Important Information

The City of Tampa Solid Waste & Environmental Program Management Department provides comprehensive waste collection services to residential customers in single-family homes and multi-unit properties (4 units or less). Service includes blue cart trash pickup twice per week, green cart recycling and yard waste collection once per week. Carts must be placed curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day and may be set out after 5:00 PM the evening before. Remove carts by sunset on collection day and store out of street view. Carts must be unblocked and placed 3 feet apart from each other and other objects. Collection times vary and may continue into the evening. The city operates the McKay Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility which processes municipal solid waste and generates electricity. Tampa is upgrading this facility, which necessitated the rate increases. Important: New Tampa, Tampa Palms, and Hunter's Green neighborhoods are serviced by Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management - residents in these areas should contact (813) 272-5680. Download the Tampa Trash and Recycling app (available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store) to receive personalized collection schedules, reminders, and service notifications. For questions or to report missed collections, call the City of Tampa Utilities Call Center at (813) 274-8811. Do not dispose of household hazardous waste in curbside garbage - this is prohibited by law. Use designated HHW facilities.
