Empty. Clean. Dry. - All containers must be rinsed and dried before recycling. Place items loosely in cart - do NOT bag recyclables. No plastic bags in recycling. Lids must be fully closed. Place cart with wheels away from road. Carts should be 2 feet apart and 3 feet from obstructions. Set out by 6 a.m. on collection day. Remove by 6 a.m. day after collection. When in doubt, throw it out.

Holiday Schedule

Jacksonville adjusts collection schedules ONLY for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. When either holiday falls on a scheduled collection day, customers will be serviced the following Saturday. New Year's Day: NO collection changes - normal schedule. All other holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, etc.): NO collection changes. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility and administrative offices are closed on major holidays. Check www.coj.net/swschedule or call 630-CITY for specific holiday week schedules.

Important Information

The City of Jacksonville Solid Waste Division provides curbside collection services through contracted haulers: Advanced Disposal Services (ADS), Meridian Waste (MW), and Waste Pro USA (WP), as well as direct city service. Collection begins at 6:00 AM - place carts at curb by 6 AM on collection day (may be placed out after 5 PM the day before). Remove containers by 6 a.m. day after collection. Carts should be placed within 5 feet of street edge, not over meters or near utilities. Jacksonville is the largest city in the contiguous United States by land area at 757.7 square miles. Service provided to single-family homes and residences with 1-4 units. Apartments and condos should contact property management for recycling options.
