Space carts at least 3 feet apart from each other and away from obstacles (vehicles, poles, mailboxes). Recycling collection typically occurs every other week. Holiday Schedule

City of Bakersfield DOES NOT collect trash, recycling, or yard waste on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day (December 25), or New Year's Day (January 1). When these holidays fall on a weekday (Monday-Friday), collection is delayed by one day for the rest of that week. For example: If the holiday falls on Thursday, Thursday collection moves to Friday and Friday collection moves to Saturday. If the holiday falls on Friday, Friday collection moves to Saturday. Earlier days in the week (Monday-Wednesday) are generally not affected unless otherwise announced. Collection operates normally on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. For areas serviced by Varner Bros. Inc (North Bakersfield, Oildale, Rosedale): Service is delayed by one day when Christmas, Independence Day, New Year's Day, or Thanksgiving fall on a weekday. No service interruption occurs when holidays fall on Saturday or Sunday. For missed collections, call 661-326-3114 (City) or 661-322-6863 (Varner Bros.) after 6:00 PM on your scheduled collection day.
