Mesa uses single-stream recycling - all recyclables go together in the blue barrel. Items must be empty, clean, and dry. Do NOT bag recyclables - place items loose in the barrel. Remove foam and plastic packing materials from boxes. Flatten cardboard boxes. Labels and lids can stay on containers. Use the Recycle Right Wizard at mesaaz.gov to check specific items. Place barrel at curb by 6:00 AM on collection day. Blue barrels are provided by the city and included in monthly service. Contact waste.info@mesaaz.gov with recycling questions.
Holiday Schedule
Mesa provides exceptional holiday service - barrels are collected on ALL holidays with NO delays. This includes New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Trash, recycling, and yard waste collection continues on the regular schedule regardless of holidays. This is a unique benefit of Mesa's municipal solid waste service. The Household Hazardous Materials Facility at 2412 N. Center St. is CLOSED on city holidays.
