Gilbert uses single-stream recycling where all accepted recyclables go together in the blue cart. Collection occurs weekly on the same day as trash pickup. Place blue recycling cart at curb by 5:00 AM on collection day. Important: Gilbert CHANGED their recycling program and NO LONGER accepts plastics #3-7 or plastic containers that are not bottles/jugs. Only plastic #1 and #2 bottles, jugs, and jars are accepted. Lightly rinse all food and beverage containers. Break down all cardboard boxes. Remove Styrofoam, bubble wrap, and plastic liners from inside boxes. When in doubt, throw it out to avoid contamination. Blue carts are provided by the Town at no additional charge.

Holiday Schedule

Gilbert trash and recycling collection is NEVER delayed for holidays. Your regular collection day remains the same every week of the year, including all major holidays (New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). This is a significant benefit of Gilbert's municipal solid waste service. However, there is NO bulk trash pickup during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 2224 E. Queen Creek Road is CLOSED on Town holidays.

Important Information

Town of Gilbert provides comprehensive municipal solid waste collection services to over 70,000 residential households. Collection starts at 5:00 AM - place carts at curb by that time on your collection day. Carts should be placed at least 3 feet apart and away from obstacles (mailboxes, vehicles, trees, power lines). Gilbert is divided into 5 geographic zones (A through E) with Monday through Friday collection. Use the online zone map at the Gilbert website to determine your specific collection day by entering your address. Standard service includes one 96-gallon black trash cart and one 96-gallon blue recycling cart. Bulk trash pickup occurs every 5 weeks based on your neighborhood schedule. Important recycling change: Gilbert no longer accepts glass in curbside blue carts - glass must be taken to one of five drop-off locations. Plastics #3-7 and non-bottle/jug plastics are no longer accepted in recycling. Report missed collections or damaged carts to 480-503-6400. Gilbert residents with active solid waste service can access the HHW facility for free disposal of hazardous materials. The Town has partnered with Queen Creek to offer limited HHW access to Queen Creek residents via voucher system. Gilbert strongly encourages recycling education and waste reduction through various community programs.
